Supervisory Security Specialist

Summary This position is located in the U.
S.
Department of Agriculture (USDA), Farm Production and Conservation (FPAC) Business Center (FBC), Homeland Security Division.
Division (HSD).
The incumbent is responsible for providing leadership, management, evaluation, and technical direction to subordinate staff that includes one section lead and program managers that serve five distinct program areas.
Responsibilities Oversees FPAC's security, emergency preparedness, and emergency response portfolios in all Kansas City-area facilities and provides regional physical security support.
Provides day-to-day facilitation and coordination of collaborative working groups and leadership councils that integrate mission-area and USDA initiatives.
Directs the execution of administrative and personnel management responsibilities related to the accomplishment of the mission assigned.
Provides direct supervision of all assigned Branch staff, to include a non-supervisory Team Lead.
Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Specialized
Experience:
I have one or more years of full-time specialized work experience equivalent to the GS-14 level in the Federal service, or comparable experience not gained through federal service that has equipped you with the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of this position.
Specialized experience is defined as:
Experience providing leadership in management, evaluation, and technical direction to subordinate staff, Building Security Planning, Security Execution, HSPD-12 Services, Emergency Planning and Operations, Physical Security Regional Support.
Applicants must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the 07/31/2023 of the announcement including time-in-grade restrictions, specialized experience and/or education, as defined above.
Time in grade:
Current federal employees applying for a promotion opportunity must meet time-in-grade (TIG) requirement of 52 weeks of service at the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the position being filled.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.
g.
, Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.
g.
, professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social).
Volunteer work helps build critical competencies and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Education There is no substitution of Education for Specialized Experience at this grade level.

This position is eligible for telework within the local commuting area of the position and other flexible work arrangements.
Current USDA policy includes telework for an 8 hour work day, 4 days per week; other flexibilities are possible dependent upon availability and/or the position and its associated duties.
