Secondary ESOL ELA Teacher (2023-2024)

PURPOSE OF JOB:
Teachers sheltered content (English) to ELL students by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONDIBILITIES:
Instructs students by lecturing, demonstrating, using audiovisual aids, and other materials to supplement presentations.
Adapts content and modifies assignments to accommodate students' language proficiency level.
Prepares course objectives and outlines for course of study following curriculum guidelines or requirements of state and school.
Assigns lessons and corrects homework.
Keeps attendance records.
Maintains discipline in classroom.
Confers with parents to discuss student's progress and concerns,Participates in faculty and professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops.
Performs related duties as assigned.
Assist students with adjustment and academic problems.
SUCCESS FACTORS:
Demonstrated experience and/or training with current techniques and skills to teach English Learners at the middle school level and literacy proficiency.
Experience teaching in an urban setting with refugees and immigrants.
MINIMUM
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Secondary Education from a U.
S.
four year college or universityMissouri certification in subject area (ENGLISH) and ESOL certification.
