Summary:
A Controls Engineer uses established procedures to perform a variety of engineering work in the design and startup of PLC controlled systems for material handling equipment.
It is expected to handle workflow as handed out from more senior engineers and contribute to projects in an expanded capacity.
A Controls Engineer resolves basic site requirement changes and supports various solutions to complete designed equipment installation.
Responsibility and expectations will vary depending on prior knowledge and experience.
Basic
Qualifications:
oExperience with PLCs and ladder logic programming.
oStrong understanding of various types of conveyor systems.
oStrong understanding of electronic principles.
oAbility to troubleshoot electronic components and computer-based systems at the hardware, software, and system level.
oAbility to understand the project life-cycle:
requirements definition, design, procurement, installation, test, document, end user training.
oStrong organizational skills, ability to multi-task and handle frequent interruptionsoStrong verbal and written communication skills.
oAbility to collaborate with project team members to define and deliver maintainable and reliable systems.
oPanel Design:
including layout and wiring schematic developmentoGM training certificates:
GCCH, GCCS, Ethernet NetworksPreferred
Qualifications:
o2
years of engineering professional experience, preferably within field of automation or control systems.
oExperience in industrial control systems installation, integration, and commissioning.
oWorking knowledge of Rockwell Automation technology, including hardware, software, and communication protocols.
oExperience with Siemens PLC and HMI ProgrammingoExperience with using Relays for controls technology.
oExperience with programming older PLCs (PLC5, SLC).
oProficient with LOTO and creating various placards.
oProficient with Eplan.
oExperience with Emulate3D; creating and testing models.
oSpecify Hardware and Software requirements, including Mat Reqs.
oAbility to Document service activities via daily work reports in a manner that effectively communicates work time, activity, and status to Supervisor, Project Manager, and/or customer.
oAbility to perform Installation Validation, I/O Checkout, System Functions Testing, and Fault Testing.
oAbility to Conduct system factory testing and field testing efforts.
