PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
The Payroll Clerk is an essential part of our dynamic payroll team.
Your key responsibilities will be to assist with the timely and accurate processing of the company's payroll in SAP.
Additionally, you would be responsible for the accurate remittance and reporting of federal/state taxes, and various third party payments.
POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Respond to vendor/employee inquiries (calls, emails) regarding payroll related matters Responsible for various master data entries needed to process payroll in a timely and accurate manner while working under conditions that require meeting payroll deadlines Reviewing and investigating system generated payroll/remittance errors/warnings Calculates and prepares employee Job Protection Pay and settlement claims Responsible for administration of remittance and notifications of garnishment orders, and other third party deductions (i.
e union dues, sick claims) Complying with all applicable State/Federal payroll legislation and requirements Complete monthly/quarterly/annual tax filings Complete Railroad Retirement Board employee data requests State and Local income tax withholding returns and remittance filings Updating checklists and filing reports POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Post-secondary education preferred but not required Previous payroll, accounting or taxation experience is an asset SAP experience is an asset Results-oriented with ability to multi-task, make decisions, and problem solve Access to sensitive personnel information, demands a high level of confidentiality Must have good communication skills (verbal and in writing) able to communicate effectively Must be detail oriented with good organization and record keeping skills Strong computer skills with ability to navigate various website portals are required All other duties as assigned WHAT CPKC HAS TO OFFER:
