Project
Summary:
Move More - Get More aims to improve adolescent physical activity and nutrition in Kansas City middle schools. The evidence is clear that American youth suffer from high rates of obesity, inactivity, and poor nutrition. Adolescence seems to be a critical time in a child's life where behaviors are learned or reinforced. With sustainability at the core of this project, we have recruited organizations who are experts in delivering each component of the intervention. We are seeking individuals to support Move More - Get More through a Public Health AmeriCorps member position.
Job Description
AmeriCorps Member duties will include, but are not limited to:
  • Coordinate with community partners
  • Assist in physical activity programming
  • Collect / manage data collection activities
  • Respond to urgent activities in safe and appropriate ways
  • Assist with data analysis and manuscript development

Qualifications
  • Must be 18+
  • By law, to serve in AmeriCorps, an individual must be a citizen, national, or lawful permanent alien of the United States
  • Members are permitted to have a part-time job to compensate their living wages
  • Members are permitted to be enrolled in classes while serving

Other Information
  • 1-year appointment beginning in August/September 2023
  • Members are eligible for an end-of-service education award
  • Professional Development Training - Attend virtual professional development opportunities
  • Become a member of a world-renowned national, state, and local network of AmeriCorps

3 Positions Available:
  1. Quarter-time position (30% FTE):
    • 450 hours total (over 1-year appointment period) averaging 10-12 hours per week
    • Living stipend totaling $5,500 (dispersed in monthly increments)
    • End-of-service education award of $1,824.07
  2. Reduced half-time position (50% FTE):
    • 675 hours total (over 1-year appointment period) averaging 15-20 hours per week
    • Living stipend totaling $8,775.00 (dispersed in monthly increments)
    • End-of-service education award of $2,626.27
  3. Three-quarter time position (70% FTE):
    • 1200 hours total (over 1-year appointment period) averaging 28 hours per week
    • Living stipend totaling $17,000.00 (dispersed in monthly increments)
    • End-of-service education award $4,826.50

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
