Visitor Services Officer

Schedule - Full time (approximately 34 hours/week)
Thursdays 9:30am-9:00pm, Fridays 9:30am-9:00pm, Saturdays 9:30am-5:00pm, and Sundays 9:30am-5:00pm
Officer will assist visitors as they tour the Museum, answering questions and giving directions; prevents damage to art and property; handles emergencies and stressful situations in a firm and courteous manner.

3.Protecting the Art Prevents theft or damage to the art and property located inside the Museum and outside on the grounds by observing persons within the assigned post.
4.Procedures on Post Follows post procedures such as: inspects and counts items in the assigned gallery; completes incident reports; visually sweeps the assigned post and picks up objects or items that could harm visitors or employees
5.Emergency Procedures In case of emergencies, evacuates visitors and employees from the Museum as quickly as possible and performs standard first-aid and CPR when needed.
6.Efficiency Is able to handle multiple situations efficiently and professionally
High School diploma or GED with demonstrated reading and writing proficiency in English
history; excellent attendance and reliability
Ability to explain guidelines and answer questions in a courteous and professional manner
Ask questions when directions are unclear
Maintain confidentiality of information regarding Museum security
Be able to stand and remain alert for extended periods of time
Must have good sight and hearing acuity and be able to climb stairs
Maintain a neat and clean appearance
Overtime and weekend shifts will be required
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the officer is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell. The officer must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color visions, peripheral vision, and depth perception. Must also be physically capable of traveling and operating a motor vehicle.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
