Special Education Teacher

Niles Home for Children, which provides residential and day treatment behavioral health programs and has operated for 133 years in Kansas City, Missouri, is now part of KVC Health Systems. The two organizations have joined forces to enhance Niles' quality of services and its sustainability for years to come. The partnership will strengthen behavioral healthcare best practices, high-quality support staff, and cutting-edge training to Niles Home for Children and expand KVC Health Systems' broad continuum of care with a unique short-term treatment facility for youth.
Due to this expansion we are adding Special Education Teachers to our team at the Niles Campus in Kansas City, MO.
Our Special Education Teachers will be expected to meet the behavioral and educational needs of at-risk students and their families by contributing to their educational and social development.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Other duties may be assigned according to qualification of staff and development of programs.
To contribute to the education program's effectiveness by identifying short-term and long range issues that must be addressed; to provide information pertinent to the issues; to recommend options and courses of action; and, to implement directives.
To establish and implement course outlines and objectives by following curriculum guidelines and state grade level equivalencies.
To create course lesson plans and objectives using student diagnostic and assessment results and aligned with grade level equivalencies.
To convey information to students by using instructional deliveries that include strategies that take into consideration how the student learns and uses resources that include, but not limited to, audiovisual equipment and computers.
To assess student learning by preparing, administering and scoring tests; reviewing and correcting assignments; eliciting student questions and responses; and evaluating applications of learning to classroom project results.
To foster student learning by using a variety of assessment methods to assist in developing the Individual Education Plan (IEP) and that monitors the effectiveness of the plan.
To monitor student learning results and communicate these results with pertinent Niles' staff.
To maintain student learning results by providing instructional feedback, coaching, counseling, and by disciplining students; and by planning, monitoring, and appraising learning results.
To maintain records by documenting learning accomplishments of students; this includes but is not limited to grades, attendance, and behavior.
To guide students' personal and social development by establishing rules and procedures for students' verbal participation and student movement within the classroom, on the
playground and other designated play areas and on school and agency sponsored field
trips or activities.
To help parents and other members of the treatment team by providing academic information, suggesting available educational resources, addressing parents' concerns and responding to questions and requests.
To ensure job results of classroom paraprofessionals by planning, monitoring and assisting in their daily responsibilities and appraising job results.
To comply with federal, state and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements and advising supervisor of needed actions.
To maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications and participating in professional societies.
To ensure student's security by following established security policies and procedures. To protect children and the facility by assisting in crises and implementing emergency intervention policies as needed.
To maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
To contribute to team effort by attending and participating in teachers' meetings and staff meetings.

RequirementsEducation:
Bachelor's degree in education with special education certification to teach by the State of Missouri
Licensure/Certification:
Valid Driver's License and auto insurance. CPR certification through either American Heart Association or American Red Cross.

Individual must have at least two year's classr

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
