Registered Nurse (Electrophysiology/Cardiac Device Clinic)

Duties include but are not limited to:
- The EP RN has an understanding of theory, concepts and practice of two different modalities:
Pacing and defibrillation therapy and Ablation therapy. - The EP RN applies his/her knowledge in the clinical setting to enhance the efficacy, safety and efficiency of electrophysiology procedures along with providing comfort and emotional support for our patients. - The EP RN is required to be detail-oriented and accurate with device interrogation and reporting. - Knowledge of the conduction system includes not only normal conduction, but elements of conduction pathology. Including application of theory and concepts associated with pacing and defibrillation therapy. - In depth knowledge of pacing concepts and terms, including advanced concepts of mode selection, refractory and blanking periods. Incumbent is able to apply these concepts to provide safe pacing therapy that is customized to the clinical needs of the patient. - Incumbent is able to safely perform device interrogation and perform system analysis through the pacemaker/defibrillator/bi-ventricular pacemaker/bi-ventricular defibrillator. - Demonstrated comprehension of theory, indications and concepts of defibrillation therapy. Under the direction of the physician, they are able to program implantable defibrillators, to perform inductions of potentially lethal arrhythmias and customize rescue therapies to safely cardiovert patients back to baseline rhythms. - Intervenes appropriately for any noted clinical variations in measured parameters, significant changes in rhythm or patient's condition. - Under the direction of the physician, they are able to discontinue and resume defibrillation therapy. - The EP RN is able to interpret internal electrograms (EGM's) from Pacemaker and ICD devices. - The EP RN is knowledgeable in normal intervals associated with internal EGM's and normal responses to pacing therapy. - Under the direction of the physician, the EP RN may perform pacing stimulation protocols to measure baseline conduction time, refractory periods, response to medication, arrhythmia inductions and arrhythmia termination. - Ability to access alerts device transmission alerts in a timely fashion, appropriately act on the findings of the transmission, and accurately chart findings and actions in EMR. - Telephone triage for patient's concerns. Follow -up as necessary, to ensure a satisfactory resolution. Consistently responds to customer request for assistance promptly and in a friendly and professional manner. - Post implant interrogation and patient teaching. Participates in policy, procedure, and protocol formation, maintains current knowledge of The Joint Commission requirements, significantly contributes to annual proficiency data. - Participates in assigned Hospital Committees and collegial teaching to staff within and outside of Cardiology. Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate State-accrediting agency and accredited by one of the following accrediting bodies at the time the program was completed by the applicant:
The Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). In cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing, possession of current, full, active and unrestricted registration will meet the requirement of graduation from an approved school of professional nursing. OR The completion of coursework equivalent to a nursing degree in a MSN Bridge Program that qualifies for professional nursing registration constitutes the completion of an approved course of study of professional nursing. Students should submit the certificate of professional nursing to sit for the NCLEX to the VA along with a copy of the MSN transcript. (Reference VA Handbook 5005, Appendix G6) OR In cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing, possession of a current, full, active and unrestricted registration will meet the requirement for graduation from an approved school of professional nursing. Experience:
2 years clinical experience Applicants with the following certifications from American Heart Association (AHA) or Military Training Network (MTN) are highly preferred:
Basic Life Support (BLS) and/or Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS). The selected employee will be required to receive these certifications prior to assuming clinical responsibilities and ensure current certifications after employment is maintained. Grade Determinations:
The following criteria must be met in determining the grade assignment of candidates, and if appropriate, the level within a grade:
Nurse I Level I - An Associate Degree (ADN) or Diploma in Nursing, with no additional nursing practice/experience required. Nurse I Level II - An ADN or Diploma in Nursing and approximately 1 year of nursing practice/experience; OR an ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a bachelor's degree in a related field with no additional nursing practice/experience; OR a Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN) with no additional nursing practice/experience. Nurse I Level III - An ADN or Diploma in Nursing and approximately 2-3 years of nursing practice/experience; OR an ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a Bachelor's degree in a related field and approximately 1-2 years of nursing practice/experience; OR a BSN with approximately 1-2 years of nursing practice/experience; OR a Master's degree in nursing (MSN) or related field with a BSN and no additional nursing practice/experience. Nurse II - A BSN with approximately 2-3 years of nursing practice/experience; OR ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a Bachelor's degree in a related field and approximately 2-3 year's of nursing practice/experience; OR a Master's degree in nursing or related field with a BSN and approximately 1-2 year's of nursing practice/experience; OR a Doctoral degree in nursing or meets basic requirements for appointment and has doctoral degree in a related field with no additional nursing practice/experience required. This position requires visual acuity, keen hearing, clear distinctive speech, and manual dexterity. This position requires potentially long periods of continued walking, standing, stooping, sitting, bending, pulling, pushing and reaching over head. Transferring patients and objects may be required. The incumbent may be exposed to infected patients and contaminated materials and may be required to don protective clothing in isolation situations or operative/invasive procedures. The incumbent may occasionally be exposed to patients who are combative secondary to delirium, dementia, or psychiatric disorders. The incumbent must be a mature, flexible, sensible individual capable of working effectively in stressful situations, able to shift priorities based on patient needs. Must complete annual Employee Health requirements; such as annual TB screening or testing, as a condition of employment. Incumbent may be exposed, on a short term basis to fumes, dust and other debris.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
