Experience:
One year of specialized experience which includes:
Using survey equipment such as:
Global Positioning System (GPS), electronic total station, theodolites, transits, and level to run traverse line or triangulation nets and level circuits to set control points for construction layout and/or mapping purposes. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). OR Education:
One full year of graduate level education in a field directly related to the work of the position, such as:
surveying, engineering, construction, or industrial technology. OR Combination of Education and
Experience:
A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages. Minimum Qualifications for the GS-08 Specialized
Experience:
One year of specialized experience which includes:
1) Analyzing and computing survey data gathered during field surveys with the use of several systems including a traverse adjustment system, level line adjustment system, 3D surfacing system, hydrographic data collection/processing system, and computer aided drafting system. AND 2) Making various computations using ties from coordinates; simple and transition curves; earthwork volumes and adjusting level loops. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). OR Education:
One and a half years of graduate level education in a field directly related to the work of the position, such as:
surveying, engineering, construction, or industrial technology. OR Combination of Education and
Experience:
A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total semester hours minus 18) by 9. Add the two percentages. Minimum Qualifications for the GS-09 Specialized
Experience:
One year of specialized experience which includes:
1) Conducting hydrographic, topographic and boundary surveys to collect data to be used for planning, design and control of river improvement structures AND 2) Creating maps and computer aided design drafting (CADD) drawings using computerized/electronic survey equipment and field data. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08). OR Education:
Two full years of graduate level education or a master's degree in a field directly related to the work of the position, such as:
surveying, engineering, construction, or industrial technology. OR Combination of Education and
Experience:
A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total semester hours minus 18) by 9. Add the two percentages. This is a developmental position. The duties of this position lead to the full performance level of GS-0817-09. Incumbent may be appointed to either the GS-07 or GS-08 or GS-09 (depending on qualifications). If selected at the GS-07 or GS-08, the incumbent may be non-competitively promoted to the target level of the position upon:
meeting all regulatory requirements; certification by the supervisor of successful performance; completion of all training requirements; and the availability of work at the next higher grade level. Promotion is not automatic.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
